Pectus Types

Pectus Arcuatum

Pectus Arcuatum is the rarest form of congenital chest wall deformities that is seen. Pectus Arcuatum combines features of both Pectus Carinatum deformity and Pectus Excavatum deformations. A group of deformities of this type is referred to as Pectus Arcuatum (candidorubrial).

Pectus Carinatum

Pectus Carinatum ranks as the second most common chest wall deformity following Pectus Excavatum. This condition involves the abnormal growth of cartilage between the ribs and the sternum (known as Arcus costarum), resulting in a noticeable protrusion or dislocation of the chest wall.

Pectus Excavatum

Pectus Excavatum is the most prevalent among chest wall deformities in shape disorders. It is characterized by a concave deformation of the chest cage, wherein the chest wall caves inward. This condition is estimated to occur in approximately one out of every 300-400 live births.
